Our HDC School Council and Parent Association is in desperate need of a treasurer. This is a vital position on our school council executive and one that needs to be filled immediately. As mentioned, we need to have someone in place right away! Please email Mr. Parent at jlparent@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to help!
HDC Parent Association | Casino Volunteers Needed - February 22 & February 23
HD Cartwright School is volunteering at the Elbow River Casino on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23, 2025. This is our school’s largest fundraiser with money raised going to residencies, school resources and much more.
Thank you to all those people who have already signed up – as of January 18 we have half of the shift covered which is fantastic. Having said that – we still require another 24 volunteers to fill all the necessary positions. If you haven’t signed up and are able to volunteer– please sign up as soon as possible! You do not need volunteer clearance and training is provided at the beginning of your shift. No experience necessary! That means all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc are eligible to volunteer.
Note: All volunteers required to complete a AGLC Casino Volunteer Worker Application which will be sent upon sign up.
There are three shifts available each day:
- Day Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 7:00 PM to close (approx. 3:30am)
- Night Shift (Count Room): 11:00 PM to close (approx. 3:30am)
Positions descriptions and sign up slots can be found here: HD Cartwright Parent Association CasinoVolunteer Sign Up - February 22 & 23
Thank you in advance for volunteering and supporting HDC! We truly appreciate the help!

Our final wrestling tournament will be on Tuesday January 28, the Divisional Tournament held at YMCA Genesis Center in Saddleridge NE, Calgary. Please ensure your athlete has a water bottle, clean shoes, snacks and athletic clothing with them, as described in the parent letter. The bus will take athletes to the venue and back to school on this day. Please check your parent letter and calendar for additional information.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to come and watch.

HDC Volleyball
Our volleyball teams have now been selected and are practicing hard for the upcoming season. Please be sure to check your child’s practice and game schedule, or the school website for updated information. Please do your best to get your athlete to their games on time, and to be picked up promptly so that coaches can get home to their families. Athletes should be ready to play 15-20 minutes before game time, but may not enter the gym until a coach is present. Student spectators at other schools must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Our first event will be a team building event on Friday January 24 at the University of Calgary Dino’s Volleyball Games. Please ensure your child has returned their form confirming attendance, by Tuesday January 21 at the latest, so we can order tickets.
All volleyball offsite forms are due this week and must be given your child’s coach as soon as possible. Fees will be added to your MyCBE account and can be paid online or in the main office at your earliest convenience.
