CBE Student Survey

H.D. Cartwright will be participating in an online school perception survey for students called the CBE Student Survey. Please find the details of the survey implementation below.

  • Who: Students in Grade 8 and 9
  • When: Friday, April 4 – Friday, April 11

About the CBE Student Survey:

  • Allows students to voice their feedback on their experiences at school, the school environment and school improvement programs.
  • Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement.
  • The survey should take about 60 minutes to complete.

The CBE Student Survey is an opportunity for students to:

  • report on themselves, their own abilities, and their accomplishments; and
  • take pride in what they have achieved.

In alignment with CBE’s Education Plan, the results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are:

  • at the centre of all CBE decisions;
  • able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and
  • demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.

If you have questions or would like to request more information about the upcoming implementation of the CBE Student Survey, please feel free to contact Ms. Ferrell at the school.

Planning for the 2025-26 School Year

Having an accurate picture of our student enrollment numbers allows us to better plan and prepare for the 2025-26 school year.  If you could please take a few minutes to complete the form below indicating whether your student(s) will be attending HD Cartwright School in 2025-26 it would be very helpful!

The link to the survey is: https://forms.office.com/r/g90t1VkpTS

If you could please submit this by Friday, April 11 we would appreciate it!

School Store

The School Store is OPEN! Enjoy browsing through the items available and order by April 20! Items will be delivered to the school the week of May 15.

Physical Education

We will be continuing our Track and Field unit until May 1. It consists of a variety of activities which include running, jumping, and throwing. This is a great chance for students to see where their strengths are and be able to confidently go out for the track and field team at HDC.

The goal is to do as much of this outdoors as possible, but the schedule of events will be varied according to weather and space availability. Please ensure that your child is ready to be indoors or outdoors each day and that they should have active wear ready to participate fully (for example, doing high jump in a dress would not be advised, and running an 80m hurdle event in jeans may pose some challenges)

Please ensure your child has shoes appropriate for track and field activities each day, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and that they have a change of clothes if needed.

Athletics

Badminton try outs are in full swing! The schedule is posted on the calendar outside the PE office, as well as morning announcements and the school website for when tryouts/practices are. We will have a grade 7, grade 8 and grade 9 team for students to try out for. Students who are successful in making the team will be given additional information about schedules and tournaments.
