Dear Parents / Guardians of HDC students,
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Meet the Teacher evening last week. It was great to meet such a large number of families. We look forward to having a good turnout at our HDC School Council Annual General Meeting tomorrow evening. Attending and being involved in School Council is a fantastic way to learn more about the great things that happen at HDC, provide feedback to school administration, and contributing to our school community.
Have a wonderful week!

Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run will be held at our school on Friday October 4. The students have set a goal of raising $1000 for The Terry Fox Foundation which focuses on cancer research. If we raise $1000, two of our sports fanatic teachers (Mr. Yeats and Mr. McSween) will wear Jerseys out of their comfort zone, for the school run.
Please consider donating to the cause at https://schools.terryfox.ca/72069
We will also be collecting cash donations at the school, and in homeroom classes. Pledge sheets are available for students who wish to raise money. We recommend only asking family and friends, and not going door to door.

It is a great opportunity to improve skills, meet new people, and get some exercise. Soccer Academy will start this week and will run on Thursdays from 3:15pm-4:10pm on the lower field. Basketball Academy will begin the Week of October 7, and will run on Friday mornings from 7:00am-8:05am
Spectators at HDC Athletic Events
As our soccer and basketball seasons get underway the gym and school fields will be busy with games afterschool. We love having students and families at our games and encourage them to come cheer and support our athletes and teams. A couple of reminders for our HDC students and families:
- All spectators - students and adults - are expected to cheer and support players/coaches/referees/parents/guardians in a positive and respoectful way.
- Disrespectful behaviours will be addressed by school administration promptly and may result in spectators being directed to leave the game and/or the school building.
- HDC students are NOT allowed to spectate at any AWAY games unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire time they are there. Students who arrive at other schools to spectate without supervision will be asked and expected to leave. The same expectations will be in place for students from other schools who come to HDC expecting to watch games – they will not be allowed to stay unless they have a parent/guardian with them.
Thank you for helping to make HDC athletics a welcoming and positive experience for everyone!
