A huge thank you to all our staff who are planning all of these fantastic opportunities for students. CBE Be Well Game with the Calgary Surge
Last week, 90 students from grades 7-9 attended the first ever collaboration with the Calgary Surge (CEBL) and the Calgary Board of Education. Students saw guest speakers address well-being and watched an awesome basketball game!
Grade 8 Water Trips
All grade 8 students experienced the Kananaskis Water trip in the past two weeks. This trip had students starting at the headwaters of the Elbow River and moving downstream while collecting scientific data about the health of the river. It was an awesome day of being out in nature and engaging in hands-on learning.
Badminton
Last week our grade 7 – 9 badminton players had their divisional tournaments. Congratulations to all of our HDC Cougars for exceptional efforts, while demonstrating fair play, integrity, and spirit. Go Cougars!
Cougar Carnival – June 25
HDC is hosting a Cougar Carnival in the gym on June 25! Design 7 and 8 students have created over 30 games, kiosks and food booths for HDC students to visit and enjoy during their Phys Ed class that day: bowling, balloon games, basketball challenges, dunk tank, cotton candy, ice cream, and face painting - to name a few. Students will come and play to win PRIZES!
Starting Thursday, May 30, tickets will be available for purchase either during homeroom or at lunch in the Foods room for 25 cents each. Most games and booths will cost between 2 - 5 tickets. Food will range from 2 - 10 tickets depending on the treat. All money raised will be donated to The Humane Society. Students that have purchased tickets will be invited to participate in carnival activities that day. Students without tickets will be provided with an alternative activity supervised by their Phys Ed teacher.
Tickets can also be acquired by bringing in a non-perishable food item for donation to the Calgary food bank. All donations will be collected in the Foods room at lunch for 2 tickets/item.
All games/booths/kiosks will only accept pre-bought tickets that day. No cash will be exchanged during the event. Tickets will be sold until the end of lunch on Monday, June 24.
