HDC School Council Meeting – Monday, April 22 IN-PERSON
Our next HDC School Council meeting Monday, April 22 at 6:30 PM. This meeting will be IN-PERSON in the Learning Commons. This meeting is open to ALL parents and guardians of HDC students. Every school council meeting includes an update from school administration and school council business and planning. We look forward to seeing you there!
Support Staff Appreciation Week | April 22 - 26
This week we celebrate Support Staff Appreciation Week. The CBE would like to recognize the contributions of all employees who work – often behind the scenes – to make our schools thrive and our system run smoothly.
There are over 400 job titles at the CBE, from education assistants to facility operators, IT experts to recruiting staff and so many more. Within the CBE, there is an incredible diversity of roles that all work together to contribute to the success of our students, schools and offices.

CBE "Be Well Game" with the Calgary Surge
We have been given the opportunity to take our students to participate in an exciting venture with the Calgary Surge. The Surge are hosting their first annual “Be Well” basketball game. Students will have a fun interactive experience while learning about acceptance, resilience and well-being. This event is happening on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Winsport, during the school day and will cost $25. If your student is interested, they will be receiving the paperwork on Tuesday April 23. Due to a limited number of spots available, students who bring their paperwork back first will be eligible to go on the trip.

Having an accurate picture of our student enrollment numbers allows us to better plan and prepare for the 2024-25 school year. School Store – Closing April 22!
Last chance to get your HDC School Swag for this year!! The online store will be closing tomorrow! There are a variety of options, colours, sizes and designs, some new items have been added so go check it out!
Orders will be delivered directly to school and handed out to students upon arrival, the week of May 13th 2024.

Alberta Education | Feedback about Cellphone use in Schools
In Alberta, and in many other places across the world, student cellphone use is increasing. Cellphones have the potential to be powerful teaching aids that, when used appropriately, can improve learning outcomes. But there are risks and concerns with inappropriate cellphone usage.
Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides is interested in hearing from parents and families about cellphone usage in Alberta schools.
You are invited to share your views in an Alberta Education online survey. Feedback will help inform any potential next steps about the future of student cellphone use in schools.
