Support for Students at the CBE
Our students’ success is our top priority and we understand that our students live complex lives and that many factors both in school and outside of school can affect their ability to learn. The CBE offers a variety of services (such as Culture and Linguistic Support, Exceptional and Special Needs, and Psychological Services) to support students, their families and our school, so students can be successful learners.
Student Services at H.D. Cartwright
- Teacher Advocate: Every student on an IPP will have a Teacher Advocate who will coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the IPP. Based on individual needs, support is available for students in and outside the classroom.
- Study Stop: All students are welcome to attend Study Stop at noon and/or after school to get extra support with their school work.
- ESL Tutorials: ESL tutorials allow ESL students opportunity to develop and improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a small group setting.
- Homework: At the junior high school level, homework increasingly becomes an important aspect of student learning. Parents/guardians play a valuable role in supporting this. Several helpful tips are available in the National Association of School Psychologists' document, "Homework: A Guide for Parents," linked to this page.
